NEW YORK (AP) - New York state will lift its curfew next month for some establishments, but closing time will still be at 11 p.m. for bars and restaurants.
Starting April 5, the curfew will be lifted for casinos, movie theaters, bowling alleys, billiards halls, gyms and fitness centers.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the changes Wednesday as he continued relaxing coronavirus-related restrictions. Indoor fitness classes also can resume statewide on Monday.
"The 11 p.m. curfew for food and beverage establishments and the 12 a.m. curfew for catered events will remain in effect for the time being," said Cuomo. We're evaluating both now and we will have an announcement on them in April.
The announcement came hours after fitness studio owners rallied in New York City. Also, the five “cluster” zones statewide won’t have special restrictions anymore.
