ROME, N.Y. – The man who was shot and killed at the Red Carpet Inn in Rome over the weekend has been identified by New York State Police as 28-year-old Benjamin J. Davis, from Ulster County.
State police say an autopsy confirmed Davis, of Milton, died from multiple gunshot wounds, and the death has been ruled a homicide.
The shooting happened around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the motel on Lawrence Street. Davis was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Police are still searching for two suspects who fled the scene in a black Nissan Rogue.
Authorities believe the suspects and victim knew each other.
