BARNEVELD, N.Y. – Rolling Star Manufacturing is a producer of high-end trailers. They’ve recently had this trailer stolen right off the lot of their business. The trailer is valued at around $25,000, but it’s not just the loss of the money that has employees like Michael Myers upset.
"These people will practically give you the shirt off their back to help you out, so I don’t understand why anybody would come on to the property or take anything at all so."
What makes this theft a little unusual is the location. The business is located on a small side street off of route 12, and the trailer was tucked away in a corner barely visible from the road. Police are checking security cameras along route 12 for video surveillance that might indicate the vehicle and plate number of the person who stole the trailer. Rolling Star Manufacturing Owner Dean Beck wants the thief to know what they’ve done.
"It damages small companies, and people should realize that you’re not stealing from a business owner, you’re stealing from a family organization."
This is a family organization. Dean’s daughter Sarah Bushinger has been working at the company since she was 15, and talked about what the employees mean to the business.
"You know we’re a family here. All our crew. Everybody here. We care about each person that works here, and that right there affects all of us."
The theft is having an effect on the staff, but Sarah is hoping whoever stole the trailer will come to their senses.
"I would ask them to just bring it back. You know… just bring it back. To steal something from somebody especially when it involves other people’s livelihood too, you know that hurts."
Anyone with information on the stolen trailer is asked to call state police in Oneida at 315-366-6000.
