More than 2,800 people are without power in Utica and Deerfield after thunderstorms with heavy rains and damaging winds blew through the area Friday afternoon.
The outages are primarily north of the Thruway, stretching from Walker Road to Newport Road. There are also several reports of localized flooding in Deerfield.
Power was lost just before 4 p.m., and is expected to be restored around 8:30 p.m.
About 95 people in Utica near St. Elizabeth’s Hospital have also been without power since even earlier, around 2:20 p.m. The estimated restoration time in that area is 6:30 p.m.
There are several reports of wires and trees down, including the areas of Trenton Road and Cosby Manor Road.
Drivers should be cautious across the region as crews work to clear debris.
