HERKIMER, N.Y. -- The third annual Farming your Future event was held at the Herkimer County fairgrounds.
Hundreds of students in seventh though ninth grades from 22 districts across the area attended to see the exhibits, presentation and live animals at the event.
"The minute people think about farming they think about cows and they think about plows. But there's so much more to it, it’s so diverse and that’s what today is all about," said MaryBeth Napolitano, event organizer.
Students were able to have hands on experience with some of the exhibits, and organizers say that this is the perfect opportunity to for kids to explore career options.
"My mom and dad both grew up on dairy farms so it’s kind of in my blood. So, I just hope to learn more about it and just kind of continue that," said Mount Markam student, Owen Allen.
The fair went from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The event was previously held in May, but was moved to October this year.
