UTICA – An annual collection drive continues to give back to children in need throughout our area.
The Stuff the Bus donation drive was a part of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad’s launch of The Polar Express.
‘Stuff the Bus’ is an annual toy drive that was created to help less fortunate families enjoy the holiday season, despite their financial burdens.
The organization has kicked off The Polar Express season. Children and their families are able to board a train and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, while getting a surprise visit from Santa!
"This is where the magic happens at Union Station,” said Mark Piersma, Public Relations Director of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. “We travel north to the North Pole and we carry about 22 thousand passengers in six weeks. So it's really a great event to be a part of."
Families from throughout the Northeast traveled to the Mohawk Valley to celebrate the 15th annual toy drive.
Since its start, the drive has collected over 100, 000 toys, that have been donated to local youth.
