UTICA, NY – The West Side Senior & Community Center held an open house and registration for their Summer Academic Program Tuesday.
The program includes plenty of hands-on activities as well as tutoring in history, math, and reading.
Snacks and lunch are included.
Program coordinator Betty Abel says the program is free of charge and available to children grades K-6.
“The length of the summer break is just too long for many of these children. They have nothing to do, and not much to do at home except watch TV. Here, they’ll be socializing, having healthy food, and will be learning at the same time.”
The Community Center will also host a Summer Lunch Program for area youth up to age 18.
The program runs July 8 thru August 31, Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 3 pm.
