UTICA, N.Y. – Murder suspect, Brandon Clark, appeared in Oneida County Court Tuesday, asking to withdraw his guilty plea in the murder of 17-year-old Bianca Devins.
The suspect is claiming his attorney coerced him into pleading guilty. The judge will assign Clark a new attorney as soon as next week.
Clark is accused of killing Devins on Boilermaker Sunday in 2019, and posting photos of the crime online.
Clark pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in February. He was scheduled to be sentenced in April, but the hearing was postponed due to coronavirus restrictions.
Bianca Devins' family wore pink in court on Tuesday to honor her.
"We're hopeful that this will not result in him getting a full trial. If he somehow does get that from his court, we are preprared to represent Bianca each and every day and remind him of the beautiful life he took from us, from her friends, from this community," said Devins' grandfather, Frank Williams.
