UTICA, N.Y. -- Kwame Spratt was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday, after stabbing and killing a man on Varick Street in July of 2019.
Spratt pleaded guilty to manslaughter in January, after he was arrested for fatally stabbing 33-year-old Thomas Bell in the neck and torso. He was also accused of stabbing two other men during the incident.
He appeared in court Monday, asking to change his guilty plea, but the judge denied the request.
Spratt was supposed to be sentenced in March, but his court appearance was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
