UTICA, N.Y. – Two murder suspects appeared in Oneida County Court Monday for a hearing to discuss discovery and deadlines for submitting evidence.
Travon D. Golden, 22, of Canadaigua, and Romero M. Collier, 23, of Syracuse, are both charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Tyler McBain, who was killed at his home on Aug. 4, 2020. Golden was arrested the following day, and Collier about 10 days later.
During the hearing Monday, the judge said he wants discovery evidence submitted by the end of June, including lab results from the district attorney's DNA and cell phone evidence.
Golden’s attorney is asking for separate trials for the two suspects.
The judge will decide on separate hearings during the next court appearance on Friday, May 28.
The next hearing on discovery is scheduled for July 2.
