UPDATE: Several people in the area of Rome Lab have confirmed that police have cleared the scene.
NEWSChannel 2 crews were told that a press release would be sent out Tuesday with more information about the incident.
ROME – Rome police are assisting with traffic outside Griffiss International Airport as federal officials investigate a report of a suspicious package at Rome Laboratory.
According to the Oneida County 911 Center, the Rome Police Department, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police were called to Rome Lab, located at 525 Brooks Road in the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday. There is a report of a K9 unit on scene as well.
Very few details are being released but no one is being let onto the property at Rome Lab.
