SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. – Sylvan Beach Amusement Park will not open this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a post on the park’s Facebook page.
In the post, officials say they haven’t received any direction on operational restrictions, and “With no guidance from NYS, regional or local authorities we had to make a tough call.”
They say staffing issues also hindered plans to open.
The park was slated for a July 4 opening before announcing the decision.
“While we are devastated at this loss, we remain determined to be here in future years, and will continue with capital improvement projects throughout the summer and off season in an effort to return stronger for 2021,” the post read.
