SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A Syracuse man has been charged after allegedly stealing more than $1 million from his former employer, Fuccillo Auto Group.
According to Trooper Jack Keller, 31-year-old Joseph A. Pompo was the director of taxation and finance for the Fuccillo Auto Group last year.
Keller says Pompo is accused of creating a company using Billy Fuccillo Sr.’s name -- but naming himself as the sole owner and president -- and withdrawing the dividend earnings from the company account for himself from January to December of 2020.
After the Fuccillo Auto Group attorneys realized the money was withdrawn, they contacted state police to report the theft.
Pompo was charged with first-degree grand larceny, a B felony.
He was arraigned in Watertown and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court March 4.
