Stony Brook, NY – After 268 days, the Syracuse Women’s Basketball program won its 14th straight season opener with a 50-39 win over Stony Brook on Sunday.
Graduate point guard Tiana Mangakahia made her return for the Orange after missing last season due to a battle with breast cancer.
And it looked like she didn't miss a beat. She scored a team high 16 points and tallied 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals in the win.
Right behind her was the freshman Kamilla Cardoso who contributed 14 points, 7 rebounds and two blocks.
Kiara Lewis, who led the Orange in scoring last season, scored 8 points and grabbed 7 boards.
The No. 23-nationally ranked Orange will host Lincoln in their home opener on Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m.
