SYRACUSE – Syracuse Hancock International Airport is urging passengers to allow extra time for traveling to the airport over the next couple days during frigid temperatures and snow.
Airlines typically recommend that passengers arrive at the airport 90-120 minutes prior to their scheduled depart time, according to the airport, but during the next couple days the airport is recommending that passengers plan to arrive at least 120 minutes prior to departure.
Aside from road conditions, which could delay travel to the airport, extra time before departure is also recommended because the airport will be experiencing increased volume due to the thousands of flight cancellations nationwide.
“We want to ensure our passengers are allowing themselves enough time to safely arrive at the airport, have enough time to get through the check-in and security checkpoint process and ultimately board their flights,” said Christina Callahan, director of Syracuse Hancock International Airport, in a news release. “What is normally a 90-minute process can take twice as long depending on road conditions and where passengers come from. Please allow plenty of time to travel to the airport, and as always, drive safely.”
