Syracuse hires Sterlin Gilbert as offensive coordinator

Syracuse is coming off a 5-7 season. Gilbert takes over for Mike Lynch.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Syracuse hired Sterlin Gilbert as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The university announced the hire on Thursday.

Gilbert is a familiar face. He previously worked with Orange head coach Dino Babers for three seasons, serving in the same role at Eastern Illinois of the Championship Subdivision for two seasons. He followed Babers to Bowling Green in 2014.

Syracuse is coming off a 5-7 season. Gilbert takes over for Mike Lynch.
