Syracuse, NY - Syracuse head men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim announced Sunday evening that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Boeheim released a statement on Twitter that following the men's basketball program's most recent round of coronavirus testing, his test came back positive. He says that he immediately went into isolation at home and isn't experiencing any symptoms at this time.
Boeheim will turn 76 years old on Tuesday.
Syracuse has been preparing for their season opener, which is scheduled for November 27 in the Carrier Dome against Bryant.
According to a statement by Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack, following Boeheim's positive test, they conducted another round of testing and found that one additional member of the basketball program has also tested positive.
The program undergoes multiple rounds of testing per week.
The team has paused all basketball activities.
