State Sen. Jim Tedisco, R-49, visited Herkimer County Wednesday to assess flood damage from the Halloween storm that devastated parts the region.
Tedisco traveled to areas that suffered some of the most significant damage, including Dolgeville and the town of Ohio.
He says the purpose is to ensure the affected areas meet the criteria for emergency designations that would allow for FEMA assistance
“What we want to do is want to make sure it's all documented, the costs are all documented, for the homeowners for every town out here, for the county of Herkimer. Make sure we cannot only get a state emergency designation, but a national emergency designation so we can get that FEMA funding and reimburse the homeowners and reimburse the towns, and the supervisors and those who are trying to make ends meet," said Tedisco.
Tedisco says he's hoping to secure about $27 million for his district, which includes parts of Herkimer County.
