UTICA, N.Y. – Republican candidate for Congress, Claudia Tenney, says she understand why people are protesting the death of George Floyd, but believes looting is not the appropriate course of action.
“I totally understand why protesters are out there objecting to this, those officers should be brought to justice they need to raise awareness, and I think every American, every law enforcement officer I’ve talked to agrees that this was an egregious killing of a man, where he should have been easily taken into custody,” said Tenney. “I do think all of Americans tend to agree as well, most of us, that the violence, and the looting and the destruction of private property, particularly of small business owners, is not honoring the legacy of George Floyd.”
George Phillips, the other Republican candidate looking to unseat Congressman Anthony Brindisi, says he will also release address the riots, but did not provide comment in his Tuesday interview with NEWSChannel 2.
Primary voting will take place on June 23.
