WKTV -- It's official. Claudia Tenney has won the Republican primary and will face incumbent Democrat Anthony Brindisi in the race for the 22nd Congressional District seat in the November election.
Brindisi beat Tenney by fewer than two percentage points in the 2018 election.
"This is a really important election," Tenney said. "This seat in Central New York is going to have everyone in the country looking at it because it's one of the top seats Republicans need in order to take back the House."
Brindisi says he is looking forward to campaigning but right now he has work to do. "My focus has been on doing the job. There's been so much going on with coronavirus and making sure we get aid to small business owners and stimulus checks out to folks that need them. So much more has to be done." said Brindisi.
Both candidates say they look forward to debates in the future.
