WHITESBORO, NY – There were a lot of happy, smiling faces at Hart’s Hill Inn on Sunday.
That’s because The 21 Club of Central New York was there for their 5th annual Christmas celebration.
There was plenty of food, music and dancing, prizes, even a selfie station.
The 21 club is a special organization that consists of children with Down syndrome and their families.
The president of The 21 Club, Mary Radel, says children with Down syndrome are very special individuals.
“People with Down syndrome really bring a lot of love and happiness to their families lives. They have a lot of likes and dislikes, just like any typically developing child, but there’s a lot of love to be gained when you have a child with Down syndrome in your family.”
The “21” in The 21 Club refers to the number of chromosomes a person with Down syndrome has, which is one more than they should have.
