MOHAWK, NY - The 2nd Annual Richie Walk took place Saturday on the grounds of the Fort Herkimer Church in Mohawk. The walk is in honor of Richie Arndt who passed away tragically last February in a work-related accident.
The event featured a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, and a barbecue with either chicken or pulled pork. Participants could then walk along the Erie Canal trail at their own pace in honor of Richie.
Proceeds from the event are being donated to the Herkimer humane society.
Amanda Arndt, Richie’s mom, says it was overwhelming to see all the love and support for her son.
“There are people here I’ve never seen. Family, friends, people who just saw a flyer, or saw it on Facebook. Obviously, he was my son so he was very important to me. To know so many people came out to support him means a lot. It really does.”
The Herkimer Humane Society will be using a portion of the money being donated to them for a scholarship in Richie’s memory.
If you would like to honor Richie Arndt, but we’re not able to attend the walk, his family asks that you make a donation to the Herkimer Humane Society in Richie’s name.
