UTICA -- The 'Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program' celebrated 25 years of encouraging Utica students to go to college, Tuesday.

The dinner was held at Utica College, to honor students in the program.

The 'Young Scholars Program' is a partnership between Utica College and Utica City School District.

The goal of the organization is to help local students prepare for college. The program started in the early 1990s as a way to help a problem Proctor High School was having with low graduation rates from minority students.

The organization recently launched a new program, the 'Young Scholars Graduate Leadership Development Program', that will help college graduates excel in their careers.
