NEW HARTFORD, NY – Students in Sandy Tucci’s third-grade class at Marcy Elementary School made a special delivery Monday.
They delivered special pillows they made to Hospice & Palliative Care’s Siegenthaler Center.
As part of a class project, students made a Santa sack, with the leftover materials each student learned to sew and made two to three comfort pillows for the hospice patients.
Ms. Tucci says the project gives the students a chance to give back to the community.
“If we can make this pillow and provide this person some comfort and make them be happy the last moments of their life, or be comfortable the last moments of their life, I think that’s really important for the kids to see that and they also need to see what a great organization Hospice is.”
Sandy Tucci and her third-grade classes have been making comfort pillows for hospice patients since 2005.
