LITTLE FALLS, NY – Thousands of people made their way to Herkimer County Saturday, for the Little Falls Cheese Festival.
The fifth annual cheese festival featured over 120 types of cheeses from 80 different vendors, all of them available to sample or purchase.
Everything from hard cheeses to goat cheeses, cheese spreads to cheese curds.
There were also numerous gourmet food and craft beverage vendors, not to mention plenty of entertainment on hand.
Cheese festival committee member Todd Harter says the dairy industry is a big part of the local economy.
“It’s an important part of the economy. We want to encourage that to keep growing and keep sustained what we have. This is a good way to do that.”
At one point, Little Falls was known as the “Cheese Capital” of the world.
