UTICA, N.Y. – More than 700 nutcrackers are now on display at Tiny’s Bar and Grill in Utica, continuing a tradition for the restaurant despite the black cloud hovering over the holidays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Folklore says nutcrackers bring luck and protection, and Tiny’s has built quite the collection over the years.
“It started with one nutcracker in 1994 and over the years it grew,” said owner, Joanne Gerace. “You can find nutcrackers at a lot of places now but the wonderful thing is, we've had many of them gifted to us. Kids will come in because they've come here - started their own collections and will come in and give me a nutcracker to put on display from them.”
The nutcracker display was set up early this year to help get people in the holiday spirit, and will be showcased at the restaurant through March.
