Tropical storm Isaias continues to move up the Atlantic coast this evening. The storm makes landfall in North Carolina tonight, bringing heavy rain and wind to the Mid Atlantic. As we head into Tuesday, the storm center is expected to track into Eastern NY and Western New England.
While we aren't in the center of the track, we do expect locally heavy rainfall for parts of the area on Tuesday. The highest rainfall looks to fall east of Utica, with 2-3" of accumulation possible. Most areas look to see 1-2" of rain. This is a soaking rainfall and could cause some minor flooding in flood prone areas. The National Weather Service has a flash flood watch in effect for areas east of Utica due to this possibility.
Rain looks to begin late tonight into early Tuesday morning. Periods of rain are expected on Tuesday, heavy at times, with the chance of thunder. Temperatures will only climb into the low 70s. Rain continues tomorrow night, falling heaviest east of Utica. The weather dries out heading into Wednesday morning.
No damaging winds are expected locally from this system.
