FRANKFORT, N.Y. -- After a year-and-a-half of construction, Tractor Supply Company Distribution Center in Frankfort is officially open for business.
The company is in the midst of bringing in new jobs and economic growth to the area.
The Tractor Supply Company celebrated their grand opening Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony that brought out hundreds of people—including elected officials.
The company is a nationwide home improvement, agriculture, law and garden retail chain. This facility is over 16 football fields long and is the largest distribution center for tractor supply which has already created over 280 local jobs.
TSC representatives say they plan to add dozens more by the end of the month.
“Over the last 19 months there’s been a lot of constructing building hiring team members and to finally start shipping out of the building, supporting our stores is really the ultimate goal. I think for the area it’s a great company that’s deep rooted in its mission and values so it provides not only a great place to work from financial means but from its deep-rooted culture it’s a win-win situation for the folks in the valley,” said General Manager Wayne Evans.
This facility is the largest economic development project in 30 years in Herkimer County. Having the company in this location will help provide more services to the company’s stores throughout the northeast region.
Tractor Supply reps say within the next 5 years, they’re hoping to have at least 350 jobs in this distribution center. To see any open positions or apply for a job, head to TSC's website.
