A tractor-trailer crash shut down at least one lane of the New York State Thruway between Exit 33 and Exit 34 for hours Tuesday morning.

New York State Police say it happened around 5 a.m., but as late as 9 a.m. traffic heading westbound was at a standstill.

They say the trailer was somehow separated from the truck and then caught fire.

The charred truck sat along the roadway between the Verona-Rome, and Canastota exits, but authorities say the crash was not weather-related.

The right lane is expected to remain closed until about 1 p.m. Tuesday,
