TRENTON, N.Y. (UPDATED) – A dump truck carrying a full load of asphalt rolled over on Route 365 in the Town of Trenton Monday afternoon while trying to avoid a collision with a Toyota Prius.
The crash was reported to 911 around 1:15 p.m.
Officials at the scene tell NEWSChannel 2 the truck was heading west toward Barneveld when the driver of the Prius attempted to turn onto 365 from Taylor Road. The truck driver swerved to avoid the Prius, and flipped onto its side, spilling the asphalt on the road and down an embankment.
Officials say both drivers were evaluated by first responders and released.
Route 365 eastbound from the intersection with Route 12 to the scene of the accident was closed while crews cleared the roadway, but has since reopened.
It's not yet clear if any tickets were issued.
