DEWITT, N.Y. – Authorities are reminding everyone to slow down and move over after a Thruway crash involving a snow plow and tractor-trailer sent both drivers to the hospital Sunday.
State police say the tractor-trailer driver rear-ended a state snow plow just after 11 p.m., in Dewitt near Exit 34A.
Police say the tractor-trailer driver, of Whitby, Ontario, lost control and went off the road after the collision. He was sent to the hospital with facial injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The snow plow driver who is from Cicero, ended up facing the wrong way on the highway after it was hit. Police say he was sent to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening arm and leg injuries.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation also responded to the scene to assist with fuel and oil spill clean-up.
Multiple lanes in that area were blocked overnight, but have since reopened.
