Several areas were impacted by flooding Friday following heavy rain across the region.
The state Department of Transportation still has some road closures in place, including:
- Marcy: Mohawk Street (Route 922A) between Main Street and Route 49
- Oriskany: River Street (Route 922E) between Route 69 and Route 49
The recent rain left the Mohawk River the highest it’s ever been at the Delta Dam, and left the city of Rome under a State of Emergency. The Mohawk River is still above flood stage, but is expected to get back down to normal levels by Saturday.
Many areas of east Rome are still flooded, and people should use caution on streets around that part of the city.
North Utica is also experiencing some flooding from the Mohawk River, with Wurz Avenue blocked at North Genesee Street since Friday morning.
The National Weather Service still has flood warnings in place for Herkimer, Oneida, Jefferson and Lewis counties.
