Each team scored early and often. Max Costes hit a two-run home run in the top of the first to put Amsterdam up by two, before Chris Rotondo responded with a solo homer of his own in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1 after one.

In the top of the third, Costes launched a solo shot over the fence in left-center for his second of the night momentarily putting the Mohawks back on top by two, until the bottom half where Rotondo blasted his second of the night to right-center to make it 3-2 after three.

The teams traded runs in the fourth, and in the fifth it was Mitch Hartigan who joined the home run derby with a solo round-tripper of his own that made it 5-3 at the time.

After the Trail Blazers brought it back to within one in the bottom of the seventh, the Mohawks slammed the door shut with a four spot in the top of the ninth to take away any doubt.

Will Gambino got the win on the mound for Amsterdam, while Chris Sparacino took the loss for the Blazers.

The Mohawks now take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series with Game 2 out at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
