WHITESTOWN, N.Y. ---- The driver of an SUV hit by a train in Whitestown escapes with only minor injuries. First responders were called to train tracks near the West End Auto Shop on Oriskany Street Saturday afternoon.
The Utica Fire Department said they believe the car stalled on the tracks located 20 feet off of the roadway. The SUV was attempting to drive into Scooby Rendering when it was hit.

Whitestown police said the driver of the car 52-year-old Jamil Alahilali was able to get out of the car and walk over to West End Auto shop where he called 911.
The incoming train was unable to stop and struck the front right part of the vehicle causing the SUV to spin out.
The Fire Department said Alahilali was taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for treatment.
Alahilali was given a ticket for failure to stop at a railroad crossing.
