UTICA – A trial date has been set for the Utica woman who is accused of stabbing her mother to death last year.

Tasheonia Hills appeared in Oneida County Court on Monday, where it was learned that the defense’s psychiatric exam is complete, but the prosecution’s exam is still ongoing. Hills’ jury trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 24.

Hills is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the murder of her mother, 44-year-old Irene Williams, who was found stabbed to death at their Humphrey Gardens apartment on Feb. 2, 2017.

Hills’ defense attorney claims that Hills was unable to process what was happening on the night her mother was killed, because she was not mentally stable.
