UPDATE - New York State Police have announced that the suspect was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.
The Attorney General's Office and State Police are conducting the investigation.
ONEONTA, N.Y. – New York State Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting at the scene of a domestic incident Tuesday afternoon.
Oneonta police were called to River Street around 12:57 p.m., where a man involved in an altercation was armed with a knife. During the encounter, police say an officer shot the man who had the blade. He was then airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
The events leading up to the shooting are not yet clear.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
