Newport, N.Y. - Two workers were injured Friday afternoon during the ongoing construction of a new town barn in Newport.
Newport Fire Chief Timothy McEvoy says there were four people working on the construction just after noon on Friday when the incident happened.
Chief McEvoy says one man was pinned under debris that had fallen during the collapse of the wooden tresses.
That worker had to be extricated using airbags and other extrication tools and was transported by Mercy Flight Central to an unspecified hospital.
A second worker was taken by ambulance to an unspecified hospital as well.
Right now, the extent of their injuries is unknown.
The other two workers were not reportedly injured.
