UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica Police Department has a new K-9, after Adirondack Bank donated the funds to purchase the dog and pay for training.
Adirondack Bank donated $8,000 to help certify the police dog, named Dak, in narcotics detection and patrol field work. Dak will work with Officer Kyle Piersall after training is complete in September.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this donation to assist with the safety and security of the entire community. We would like to welcome K-9 Dak to Utica and wish him and Officer Piersall a long, successful and safe career with the UPD,” said president of Adirondack Bank, Rocco Arcuri.
There are now four dogs total in the UPD K-9 unit.
