LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. -- Eleven people were given aid including shelter, food and clothing after a fire damaged four homes last night on Furnace Street in Little Falls, according to the American Red Cross.
The fire began in a vacant building and spread to the two nearest houses on the street. The fourth house was damaged due to water damage from the efforts to put out the blaze. As many as five families were displaced, including 10 adults and a four-year-old child. Multiple pets were also missing as of Sunday morning. No people were hurt.
Calls came in at around 9 p.m. to report the fire. Firefighters from Little Falls, Ilion, Dolgeville, Herkimer, Salisbury and Middleville were on the scene through the early morning hours.
NEWSChannel 2 recieved word that a demolition crew was on the scene of the damaged homes Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
