New York State Police have identified the person operating the amish buggy, and the person driving the truck.

UPDATE: New York State Police have identified the person operating the amish buggy, and the person driving the truck.

Police said Samuel Miller, 14, who was operating the buggy, pulled out of a residence on Honey Hill Road in Newport right into the direct path of a truck with a plow. The driver of the truck was, Jeffrey S. Yaworski, 28 of Newport.

After the crash, the horse dragged the buggy a ways and broke free, and the buggy came to a rest on the side of the road.

Police said Miller was transported to the hospital and is being treated for skull and facial fractures but is listed in stable condition.

Yaworski was not injured in the crash.

NEWPORT- Just before 9 p.m. on Friday crews responded to a car versus amish buggy in Newport.

According to Newport Fire Department, a truck struck the amish buggy on Honey Hill Road. Officials said the horse made it out with no injuries, but at least one person was transported to the hospital.

State Police and Newport Fire departments were there.
