UTICA, N.Y. – Utica City School District is hiring a new school bus company, after working with Birnie Bus for decades. The contract between the two ends in June.
Superintendent Bruce Karam says Durham School Services, based in Illinois, will take over student transportation after coming in as the lowest bidder when the district sent out a request for proposals.
Durham will be under contract with the district for the next five years.
Karam says the district will save about $5 million over that time period under the new contract with Durham.
