UTICA, N.Y. - Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner announced, Friday, that the club has re-signed defender Onua Obasi for the upcoming season.
After signing with Utica in November 2019, Obasi played in 17 games where he had seven goals, three assists and was second on the team with 17 blocked shots.
He earned league honors for the third time, being named to the All-MASL second team this past season. Previously, Obasi was an All-MASL Honorable Mention in 2015-16 and named to the MASL All-Rookie team in 2014-15.
Prior to his stint with Utica City FC, the Birmingham, England native had prior MASL experience, playing for the Baltimore Blast from 2014-2016, where he had 31 points (18g, 13a) in 37 games.
He had also suited up for the Rochester Rhinos and Ottawa Fury FC of the USL, and had a trial stint with the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer.
