UTICA, N.Y. - Utica City FC announced, Thursday, that the club has re-signed a trio of core players.
Goalkeeper Andrew Coughlin, midfielder Nate Bourdeau, and forward/defender Bo Jelovac, the latter two serving as team co-captains last year, will be remaining in Utica for the foreseeable future.
Exact terms of the agreements were not disclused due to team and league policies.
Each of the three players has been with UCFC during its first two seasons at the Adirondack Bank Center.
"These three have been pillars of our team for many seasons," said Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner. "I'm thrilled to have them back together as the core of our team for another season as we continue to push to bring the cup home to Utica."
This past season, Coughlin finished with a record of 13-4, a 4.88 goals against average, and a .681 save percentage. His 13 wins were second in the Major Arena Soccer League for the 2019-20 season.
He was also won the team's Best Defender award and chipped in offensively with five assists.
Bourdeau recorded 24 points (11g, 13a) in 20 games during the 2019-20 season. It was his third consecutive year recording 20 or more points, despite this past year being shortened due to coronavirus.
Jelovac set new offensive career highs for the second straight season with 36 points (15g, 21a) in 20 games during the shortened year.
He was awarded the team's award for Player with the Most Heart for the second year in a row, and was one of the league leaders for game-winning goals (2) and assists.
Utica City FC currently has five players from the 2019-20 season that are free agents: Alencar Ventua Jr., Jake Schindler, Tim Goldman, Uros Momic, Vittorio Petrera.
