UTICA, N.Y. - Utica City FC will have some local flavor this upcoming season with General Manager Tommy Tanner and Head Coach Ryan Hall announcing the signing of Issak Somow, Friday.
Somow, a native of Kenya, moved to Utica in 2006 and played scholastically for Proctor High School, Herkimer College and MVCC.
Over the past couple of years, the hometown product has played semi-pro for Krajisnik FC and professionally for Syracuse FC.
"I'm looking forward to play for my home city," Somow said. "I see this as another opportunity to develop my game and take it to a whole new level. It's a new challenge and I can't wait to get started"
A stand-out at every level he has played, Somow, a midfielder, has a knack for the back of the net and is a strong dribbler in close quarters.
"We are very excited to have signed Issak for the upcoming 2021-22 season," said Hall. "He is a tremendously talented player that will bring a lot of versatility to this team."
After sitting out this past season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Utica City FC will return to the field to begin the 2021-22 campaign in late November.
