UTICA, N.Y. - Utica City FC was forced to sit out the 2020-21 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, but are now set for a November return.
The MASL has announced plans for the 2021-22 season, marking a return to normal after a shortened year.
The season will consist of a full 24-game schedule for each team, which will begin in late November and conclude in early April 2022, with playoffs to follow.
All 16 MASL member teams are expected to compete after only seven participated in the 2020-21 season.
"All of our member clubs across North America, including the new league office, are working extremely hard in preparation for an exciting '21-22 season in front of the great fans of professional indoor soccer," said League Commissioner Keith Tozer.
Teams will have at least three guaranteed home games, depending on location, but with restrictions lifted across New York State, Utica City FC will likely have around the normal number of 12 contests at home.
Along with the Utica Comets, Utica City FC is expecting to have full capacity for games at the Adirondack Bank Center in the upcoming season.
Rosters, schedules, conference alignments and playoff format will be announced at a later date.
