UTICA, N.Y.- Utica College is set to announce a new safety initiative called Safe Trax.
It was created in an effort to enhance prevention education and services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
The development and implementation of this project was made possible through a nearly $300,000 grant from the United States Department of Justice.
The goal is to create a strong community response team including campus response, the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley, MVHS, and the Utica Police Department.
The College’s President Laura Casamento said that “this coordinated community response team will work to enhance victim safety, provide support, and services to victims, support efforts to hold offenders accountable and improve, overall campus response to sexual violence and stalking incidents.”
Earlier this year Utica College received over $312,000 from the Higher Education Capital Matching Grant to help fund safety and security improvements across campus.
