UTICA, N.Y.--On March 5th, Utica College students were packed into the Strebel Student Center for hours.
There, they waited for law enforcement officers to search every room on campus, searching for any indication the gun threat called into the school was credible.
Tuesday afternoon, students filled the Stebel center again, to thank the officers who worked to keep them safe during the lockdown.
"They got there when the threat was live and happening," Lukus Becker, one of the student organizers for the event said. "That made all the difference to know that we were alreadysurrounded, we were being helped."
"The students were the most impacted by the situation that happened with the lockdown," Ann Ciancia, UC's Student Government Association president said. "So I think just saying thank you from the students, to say thank you to UPD for their help."
The officers were treated to ice cream and were presented with a banner signed by the students.
