UTICA, N.Y.-The Utica Comets Home Opener is in the books!
The Comets kicked off the 2019-2020 season by beating the Syracuse Crunch 6-2 Wednesday night.
It was a sellout crowd, bringing the total number of sellouts to 169 dating back to April 10, 2015.
There was definitely some excitement in the air with a crowd of just under 4,000 packing the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
Fan Ryan Shannon from Whitesboro said he couldn’t wait for opening night against the Crunch and his partner Bryce Brown also from Whitesboro says there is “nothing better than seeing guys on the ice, hitting the bodies hard, and playing hard.”
Charlene Vehoski of Chadwicks says she has season tickets and comes as much as she can with family and friends. “My next door neighbor and I usually come, so it just depends on who is free that night and I bring (them) with me.”
Ron Vincent of Utica says he has “been coming to hockey games ever since Clinton Hockey.” Vincent loves having hockey in Utica.
If you missed the home opener don’t worry the Comets have a three game homestand. They host the Charlotte Checkers Friday Octber 18th at 7:00pm, the Rochester Americans Saturday October 19th at 7:00pm, and the Binghamton Devils Friday October 25th at 7:00pm.
