EAST UTICA- The Utica Fire Department was dispatched to a home at the corner of Kiniry and Eagle street in East Utica.
According to Deputy Chief Matthew Ambrose, they got the call at 4:51 p.m. on Sunday.
He said smoke and flames were coming from the attic. No one was home at the time, and there were no animals in the home.
Ambrose says most of the damage is in the attic. He said National Grid was called to cut power and gas to the house.
He said the heat made it challenging, but they managed to put the fire out in 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
