UTICA- This weekend, the Utica Police Department announced they're back at full staffing of its sworn members.
On Friday, members with the department either called in sick or abandoned their shifts after the suspension of Sgt. Sam Geddes.
UPD released this statement over the weekend:
"As of Saturday, the Utica Police Department was back to full staffing of its sworn members. The Utica Police Department continues to extend its thanks and appreciation to Sheriff Maciol and the men and women of the OCSO for partnering with our members to ensure that there was no loss of police coverage and that Utica Public Safety was never at risk."
Geddes was suspended for misconduct after officials with the city say he used pepperspray and made "inappropriate comments" to a woman and teenagers while on a call.
